Walnut Horn

You need just a few ingredients to make these elegant and delicious walnut horns – perfect as a dessert or a snack for any occasion!

Ingredients for pastry dough

  • 237ml margarine planta melted
  • 1 egg yolk
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • Zest from 2 lemon
  • 2 ½ cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup powdered sugar

Ingredients for filling

  • 2 cups walnut grounded finely
  • ¾ cup fine sugar
  • 2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg powder
  • ¼ tsp ginger powder


  1. Beat sour cream, egg yolk, salt and lemon zest to mix
  2. Add in melted margarine and flour
  3. Beat the mixture by scraping the side of the bowl with a rubber spatula


Mixture will appear uneven (it will look curdled)

  • Place the bowl in the refrigerator about 10 minutes
  • Stir the mixture once or twice

Now it will become smooth

  • Divide the mixture into 4 portions
  • Wrap the portions in plastic wrap
  • Refrigerate the dough overnight

The next day

  • Form the dough into small marble shapes
  • Roll shapes into small discs
  • Shape the discs into small horns
  • Place on ungreased baking pan, and bake for 12 minutes at 180°c until golden in color
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving
